Early and progressive hydroxychloroquin retinal toxicity: 9-year follow-up with multimodal retinal imaging

نویسندگان

چکیده

Retinopathy secondary to the use of hydroxychloroquine sulfate can cause irreversible central visual loss and progress even after stopping drug. The pathophysiological mechanism by which this phenomenon occurs is unclear. Periodic eye exams associated with multimodal imaging help in early recognition pathology, being essential for realization an diagnosis order minimize adverse sequelae. Patients must be aware risk toxicity its possible consequences, so medication well-founded. Detecting subtle changes perception damage, but not necessarily prevent it. Medications should discontinued, if possible, when recognized or strongly suspected, a decision made together patients their physicians, as it indicated underlying pathological condition that also lead sequelae patients.

Follow up by colour Doppler imaging of 102 patients with retinal vein occlusion over 1 year.

BACKGROUND/AIM Retinal vein occlusion (RVO) is one of the most frequent ocular vascular diseases and leads to severe vision impairment. Colour Doppler imaging (CDI) is the first method which allows distinct evaluation of arterial and venous velocities in RVO. CDI is valuable for diagnosis of RVO and shows the effects of isovolaemic haemodilution. Patients with RVO were monitored by CDI for 1 ye...

Multimodal Imaging of Retinal Astrocytic Hamartoma Associated with Congenital Hypertrophy of Retinal Pigment Epithelium.

Multimodal Imaging of... Klin Monatsbl Augenheilkd hamartoma or the splenic hamartoma. The exact incidence of retinal astrocytic hamartoma (RAH) is not well known, but it is estimated at one case per 100000 births per year [1]. The astrocytic hamartoma is a neuroglial tissue and produces astrocytes within the optic nerve [2], and consequently it often appears within papillary region. Congenital...
